The breath of life and death - Nov 2023

The recent weather has been fluctuating between cold and hot. But clearly, the season is heading towards summer, and people are expecting this summer to be very hot.
When you turn on the TV, it is full of stories about wars. There are more and more stories of accidents and casualties caused by earthquakes, floods, and droughts due to global warming and climate change. We are not sure how to uplift our spirits during times like these. When we look around us, we too feel anxious and downhearted for no reason. It seems that God gave humans the precious gift of free will, but humans are using it to pursue evil.
However, everything, especially our spirit, depends on our relationship with God. When we are attached to God, we live, that is, our spirit lives. And when we are separated from God, we die, that is, our spirit dies.
Let's take a quick look at Genesis 2:7. It says, "Then the Lord God formed a man from dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."
When God created humans, he created them from dust and then breathed life into their nostrils. Humans are composed of dust and the breath of life of God. The breath of life of God is Spirit. So, without the Spirit of God, humans are nothing more than dust.
And when a person breathes their last breath, that is, when they can never breathe again, we say that the person is dead. So, even if humans are satisfied physically, they feel hollowness in their mind or heart that is not fully filled. They feel spiritual thirst. The emptiness in our heart cannot be filled by anything else but God.
In this early morning, I hope for God's peace to quickly reach the people in far-off lands at war. I hope we can see the people around us with eyes and hearts filled with love. I pray that the void in our heart is filled with God's presence, His love. May you all have a blessed day today.
