Easter Show or Easter Worship - April 2023
I have never been to the Easter Show. One of the reasons why I didn’t go to the Easter Show is because it is not related to Easter at all. I believe that Easter should not be a show. Passing through Lent, we have longed for a deeper relationship with the Lord and it seems foolish to end the journey with the Easter Show.
In fact, going through Lent, what we see is all kinds of chocolates wrapped nicely and beautifully at shops. What I hear from children is whether or not they believe in the Easter bunny, not whether or not they believe in the revival of Jesus.
I like to see family gatherings during the season of Easter, people’s smiles, and liveliness on the streets or homes. However, I feel regretful and sorry when it comes to my mind that Jesus might be the only lonely person during this joyful time. I think now is the time to re-examine our faith.
We will have a series of services in April; Palm Sunday (2nd), Good Friday Service (6th) and Easter (9th). Celebrating dates already have fixed spots on the calendar. But it is us that can make them significant and meaningful. Instead of just checking the dates with your eyes on the calendar, why don’t you make those days really meaningful days which highlight your faith? Don’t make your spirit poor and empty, while you fill your physical happiness. Conversely, how about simplifying the physical and enriching the spiritual? Why don’t you praise the Lord because He has risen from death? He conquered death.
Let me share 1 Peter 1:3 with you during this busy season.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…
God has given us new birth and we hope our spirit be renewed by His Spirit. Today, again, I am going to hold on to this faith; ‘To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1)’.
I hope and pray that your Easter is filled with a living hope. Happy Easter to you all.
