“Discover a real, life-changing God”

People tend to think of religious belief as not real — as something that goes on strictly inside peoples’ heads. Some Christians tend to do the same, because our society naturally influences us.

Nonetheless, the Christian religion is about a God who is very real, albeit invisible. This is not a belief in the sense that there is no way of telling whether or not it is true. It depends on the historical facts about the life on Earth of Jesus the Christ.

So, how can something Jesus did 2000 years ago change my life?

One core belief of Christianity is that people are a mixture of good and evil. For example, they do things ranging from pushing in at the supermarket, through corruption in business and treating their spouses selfishly, to murder and rape, and so on. At the same time, they do things ranging from letting people into traffic, through to spontaneously helping others in times of disaster and so on.

It is easy to say that other people are evil, but so hard to say the same about myself! Sadly, though, we all find that we can not stop doing and thinking bad things when we want to.

When we discover this real, life-changing God, we find He can give us the power to deal with this problem in a way that shows in how we live. What Jesus did is at the heart of Christianity. Christianity does not have anything to offer to someone who believes that they are a good person; in the sight of a perfect God, the good things we do do not make up for the bad.

We invite you to join us at Bexley Uniting Church, to find out how what Jesus the Christ did on Earth can change our lives.

You can start getting to know about Jesus by reading the brief biography written by Luke and titled “Luke”, in the Bible. Here is a link: Luke 1.
